1. Purpose of this disclaimer
Running and strength training involve physical effort and cannot be made risk-free. This page explains the boundary between exercise coaching and medical care, and the responsibilities that help make coaching safer.
2. Coaching is not medical care
Two Tone Running provides running coaching, exercise programming and general training guidance. It does not provide medical diagnosis, physiotherapy, emergency medical care, prescription medication or treatment of disease or injury.
If you have a medical condition, are returning after significant illness/injury, are unsure whether exercise is appropriate, or have symptoms that concern you, seek advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before relying on a training programme.
3. Injury, pain and health information
You may be asked about injury, pain, niggles, soreness or recovery because this information can be relevant to exercise choice and training load. Providing this information does not create a doctor-patient or clinician-patient relationship and does not amount to a medical assessment.
Where information suggests that continuing or progressing training may be inappropriate, the coach may pause, reduce or modify training and recommend that you obtain appropriate professional assessment.
4. Your responsibility while training
- Train within your current ability and use reasonable judgement.
- Do not deliberately train through pain or symptoms that feel unsafe or concerning.
- Tell the coach about relevant changes in health, injury, recovery or circumstances.
- Use suitable footwear, equipment, clothing and a safe training environment.
- Follow road, trail, gym, venue and local safety rules.
- Adjust or stop a session when weather, terrain, traffic, equipment or your physical condition makes continuing unsafe.
5. Strength & Conditioning
Exercise demonstrations and written cues cannot account for every individual’s anatomy, injury history, equipment setup or technique. Use a load and range of motion you can control. If you are unfamiliar with an exercise or cannot perform it safely, stop and ask for guidance or seek appropriate in-person instruction.
6. 1-to-1 sessions
Outdoor sessions can involve uneven surfaces, traffic, weather, other path users and changing conditions. Routes or session content may be changed on the day for safety or practical reasons.
You should tell the coach before the session about any material health, injury or accessibility issue that could affect participation.
7. Athlete app and messages
The athlete app and messaging features are coaching tools and are not monitored as an emergency service. Do not use the app to seek urgent medical help. If you need urgent or emergency assistance, use the appropriate local emergency or healthcare service.
8. Results are not guaranteed
Training outcomes vary. No particular race time, fitness gain, injury outcome or performance improvement can be guaranteed. Results depend on many factors including consistency, health, recovery, nutrition, sleep, life stress, weather and race conditions.
9. Reasonable care and skill
This disclaimer does not reduce Two Tone Running’s obligation to provide paid consumer services with reasonable care and skill, and it does not exclude or restrict liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Questions before starting
